Seattle Seahawks news for Monday, July 12, 2010, and other dates…

Been away for a week, so today is catch-up day. Rather than split up all of Sando’s and TNT’s blog posts, here’s the summary from the last week for each:

Tacoma News Tribune:

  • Morning links: Hasselbeck still an elite QB?
Charles Davis and Jamie Dukes of the NFL Network debate whether Matt Hasselbeck still is an elite quarterback in this video link.
  • Former Hawks’ WR Engram headed to Cleveland
Now 37 years old, former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Bobby Engram will be reuniting with Mike Holmgren, inking a deal with the Cleveland Browns today.
  • Hawks one of 20 teams at RB Unga’s workout
BYU running back Harvey Unga reportedly worked out for 20 teams today in Provo, Utah. Unga is one of four players expected to be available in this year’s supplemental NFL draft, which takes place next Thursday, July 15.
  • Seahawks to open training camp practices
The Seattle Seahawks announced this morning that they will again open select training camp practices to the public beginning on July 31 at the team’s headquarters in Renton.
  • Morning links: WR Tate gets helping hand from Fitzgerald
Rookie Golden Tate is in Minneapolis working out with Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and other NFL players in order to get ready for Seattle’s upcoming training camp. (Lots of other interesting links inside this blog entry as well.)
  • WR Obomanu headed for a breakout season?
With the Seattle Seahawks reportedly interested in free agent Terrell Owens and San Diego’s Vincent Jackson, one person likely hoping neither of those players ends up in Seattle is Ben Obomanu.
  • Morning links: Don’t sleep on Seattle
With most national publications working on NFL season previews, the Seattle Seahawks have consistently been picked as a sleeper team in the NFC West that could surprise if everything goes right in head coach Pete Carroll’s first season.

Mike Sando:

Field Gulls:

  • 2009 Season Retrospective: Olindo Mare
Mare has enjoyed two solid seasons kicking field goals. The big difference between his 2008 and 2009 is that in 2008 he attempted four field goals of 50 yards or more and made three.

Field Gulls:

  • The VMAC Beckons the Twelve Army to Mass at its Gates
It’s that time of year again, my fellow Twelves… We start poring over fantasy football magazines, we try to figure out what new Seahawks jersey (if any) to buy for this season, and if we are really lucky, we are waiting to get our season tickets in the mail. For folks in the northwest, we also are trying to figure out if we can make it to a Training Camp session in Renton.
